Chapter 9 – Meshach

While Camilla was in the shower, I tapped on the guest bedroom door, making sure she wasn’t in the room. Once the coast was clear, I slipped in and placed a neatly folded t-shirt of mine and clean pair of boxers on the bed. I knew she would probably drown in them, but at least she would have something to sleep in. After dipping out of the guest room, I sauntered to my kitchen, pulled open the fridge, and grabbed a bottle of beer. Scanning the contents of my fridge, a nigga barely had shit, but I would make it work.

Already having some chicken breasts thawed out in the fridge helped me out a lot. Taking the package of meat out, I began to prepare the only thing that I could put together. Downing some of my beer, I boiled some water. Before I knew it, I was four beers in, as Camilla limped into the kitchen.

“Bahahaha,” I laughed as she smiled goofy-like.

“Big, right?” she said looking down at her clothes. Pulling a strand of hair back behind her ear that had gotten loose from her messy bun on her head, she said, “Thank you, though.”

“You’re fine. It’s cool. You ain’t gotta keep thanking me,” I added. “There’s the bottle of Tylenol.”

“Okay, sorry,” she said shyly.

“You drink?”

“Yeah. Sadly, I’ve been a drinker for quite some time now,” she said as I went into the fridge, popped the top on the beer and gave it to her. She took two Tylenol, swigging it down with some beer.

“Thanks. Well, I know you said stop thanking you, but that slipped out,” she said, taking a long gulp of her beer. I shook my head and grinned at her. She was something else.

“I hate to see women drinking beer, but you cool and everything, and a nigga is outta Henny. Plus, I can’t be drinking any Henny ‘round you. That shit get me too turnt,” I said teasing.

“I feel you! Last time it made Diesel pass out,” she added.

“That nigga feeling himself lately.”

“How?”

“He got a whip now! Nigga got some balls on’em and shit.”

“I kinda see that, too. I’m proud of him, though. He’s been working hard lately.”

“Yeah, he has,” I said, changing the subject as Camilla grabbed the box of spaghetti, pouring some into her hand. I watched as she snapped it in half before putting the spaghetti pasta in the boiling hot water pot. Watching as she walked to my fridge, she grabbed some butter followed by a knife. She put a good amount of butter into the pot. I watched as she grabbed the salt that I had on the counter next to other seasonings that I would be using. She applied a dash of salt as I asked, “You cook?”

“Since I could walk and talk.”

“That’s wassup. I’m not the best cook, but I can whip some shit up, hence this shit, since it was all that I had.
